Village Theatre’s Matilda
The Village Theatre has kicked off its 2018-19 season with Matilda the Musical. The show was TIME’s number one show in 2013, and winner of five Tony and seven Olivier awards.
Matilda will be taking up residence at both Village Theatre locations, starting with Issaquah and then moving to Everett in January of 2019.
In 1979, the Village Theatre took over a historic theater building in Issaquah, built as the First Stage Theatre in 1913. Since 1998, though, the Village has been in two locations as the Everett Performing Arts Center invited the group to be its resident performing company.
Each year, the Village presents a five-show mainstage season. The children’s group is about to take the stage with Freaky Friday starting December 1st, 2019.
MATILDA THE MUSICAL
Now through 12/30/2018 | Francis J. Gaudette Theatre
Roald Dahl’s beloved magical misfit comes to Village Theatre’s stage in the hit musical that swept up five Tony Awards, 11 Olivier Awards, and was named TIME’s #1 Show of the year in 2013. Matilda is the story of an extraordinary girl genius armed with a sharp mind and a vivid imagination who dares to take a stand and change her destiny. With the help of her kindly teacher (and a little magic), this miraculous girl proves that everyone has the power to change their story – and that sometimes, you have to be a little bit naughty.
