Spirit of Christmas All Over London
The Christmas season can be magical, especially if you think outside of the box and take advantage of all that London has to offer. Yes, you can sit in a pub and look at the pretty decorations or make it a point to hide from the crowd at Harrod’s. But, then you’re missing out on so many wonderful activities, shows, and opportunities that only roll around once each year.
So, when we came across this article published by the Evening Standard, we wanted to bring it to your attention. Click on the link at the bottom to pull up the entire list of recommended holiday activities. It’s lengthy and we’re sure there are at least one or two things that you never considered doing, but maybe you’ll now be inspired.
Forget Alpine slopes and German markets, London’s got all the festive feels you need this winter.
As ice rinks and winter terraces return for another year, there are plenty of Yuletide activities to enjoy in the capital.
From husky rides and pantos to festive brunches, you certainly won’t be twiddling your thumbs this season.
To get you in the spirit, we’ve rounded up our favourite things to do in London at Christmas.
Go to a Christmas cabaret show
Add a bit of glitz and glamour to the Yuletide at the London Cabaret Club’s Gatsby Christmas (throughout December). As the man himself would have wanted, it’ll be an over-the-top, spectacular, gilded affair, combining performance and luxury dining. Over in Leicester Square it’s a bit more risqué. All male burlesque group Briefs are headlining (until January 3), so expect seven sexy men serving circus, drag and comedy.
Visit an iconic Christmas tree
As is tradition, the capital will boast some truly great fairy light-festooned whoppers this Christmas, all bound to put the diddy tree in your living room to shame. Not to be missed are Trafalgar Square’s annual gift from Norway and the 30 year-old Covent Garden beast. At least you don’t have to hoover up the pine needles.
It’s mulled drinks season and the capital has some great winter warmers to get your hands on. Fulham’s Winterland is offering a whole host of festive treats including mulled wine, hot cider and boozy hot chocolate, meanwhile Big Chill in King’s Cross have a mulled sloe gin.
Go to a Christmas edition of the Big London Bake Off
Mince pies, gingerbread men, Christmas cake — baked goods come in thick and fast during the festive season so what better way to get in on the action than at one of the Christmas editions of the Big London Bake Off. Enjoy 90 minutes of baking heaven and all the seasonal ingredients will be provided.
