Mexican food is one of the most popular types of cuisine, and there are more than 300 restaurants in Atlanta that specialize in it. So whether you’re looking for an Atlanta Mexican restaurant with seafood or beef tacos, chicken burrito bowls, or a steak quesadilla – we’ve got you covered.

From authentic to fusion dishes, these spots will satisfy your cravings. Grab some friends and try them all. It’ll take you a while, though, because we’re putting the spotlight on five Atlanta Mexican restaurants but have a handy directory of 200 more for you. Yes, that’s 200!

ADios Cafe

The day starts with breakfast, so we’ll start our Atlanta Mexican restaurant guide with ADios Café, a place devoted to morning Mexican food.

Mexican Eggs Benedict, Quesadilla De Huevo, Crepa De Espinaca are all hearty options in the 10.00 range. If you’re craving something on the sweeter side, how does the Crepa de Nutella sound? Filled with Nutella and sweet plantains and then topped with piloncillo syrup, toasted pecans, and whipped cream, this dish is like dessert for breakfast. And, hey, who doesn’t love that?

Adios Café serves up comforting drinks like traditional Mexican hot chocolate and adult beverages, including Mimosas and Bloody Marias.

Breakfast is served until 11 am during the week and 2 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Coffees and desserts are on tap until 10 pm if you miss the window. ADios Café is located near Mercedes-Benz Stadium at 168 Walker Street.

Casi Cielo

When you head out with a large group, a good appetizer menu is a must. So, you’ll love Casi Cielo’s, as the shareables are diverse. Fundido De Queso and Guacamole Frito De Hierbas are pretty much expected. However, Aquachile De Pescado, or sliced halibut with a chile jalapeno sauce, will catch you off guard.

Entrees also cover the usual suspects and some surprises. Quesadillas, tacos, check and check. But keep reading the menu, and you’ll get to plates including Mixteco Poblano  – a poblano pepper filled with duck, prawn, and cheese. You’ll also find vegetarian treats like a vegetable Napoleon (Milhojas De Verduras) and Coliflor Al Josper, which is cauliflower like you’ve never had before.

This beloved Atlanta Mexican restaurant is in the mid-price range, with most entrees just under 20.00.

Casi Cielo is located at 6125 Roswell Road and is closed on Mondays.

Alma Cocina

A Buckhead favorite, Alma Cocina, serves up Mexican and Latin American dishes. This is a fun one to cover, as the options are unique and satisfying.

Take the guacamole, for instance. Yes, you can order up traditional guac, but you’re at Alma Cocina! So, why not give a Butternut Squash or Cauliflower Guacamole a go?

The Roasted Chicken Mole is $22 and served with mashed plantains and grilled green beans. We prefer the Charcoal Rubbed Flat Iron with roasted mushrooms, chambray onion, charred tomatoes, confit potatoes, and mole chichilo, though, for $36.

Street tacos, small plates, and sides for the table will ensure that you won’t leave hungry – that’s for sure.

Alma Cocina has a downtown location, but the Buckhead restaurant is located at 3280 Peachtree Road, NE, and is open for carryout, dine-in, and happy hour.

The Original El Taco

We like The Original El Taco for those Atlanta Mexican restaurant favorites that you just can’t get enough of when you have a real craving. Entrees like Sizzling Fajitas and Three-Cheese and Poblano Enchiladas plus a side of Mexican Street Corn won’t knock you out with creativity. But good food is good food.

You might be excited to learn that The Original El Taco has a Family-style Dinner that feeds up to five people. Options include the Grande House Salad for $25 or two types of 10 tacos for $40. And, if you have a picky eater in the family, you can always opt for the Fried Chicken Tacos. Enchiladas are also family-style, with four available versions and four sauces. Yum!

Lunch and dinner are served seven days a week at the 1186 North Highland Avenue Northeast location.

Carniceria Ramirez

When we put together lists of the best local restaurants, we tend to stick to establishments with websites. It makes getting the info you want easier before you hop in the car.

We’re making an exception for Carniceria Ramirez, though, as it’s an ideal Mom and Pop shop and an authentic Atlanta Mexican restaurant. There is no delivery, no dine-in, just good down-home Mexican food to take to your home.

Tacos, burritos, flautas, menudo, sopes… You’re not going to find nouvelle cuisine at Carniceria Ramirez.
