I’ll be honest with you – I was pleasantly surprised when I put together a list of outdoor restaurants in Boston.
I’m originally from the northeast (shout out to Syracuse!) and know that patio dining tends to be few and far between. Or, when a restaurant rolls out its patio tables and umbrellas, it’s only for a few months. That makes sense considering there was a year when I had a six-foot mound of snow in the backyard in May.
But we live in a new world now, and outdoor restaurants in Boston are much more appealing. It’s not just a matter of ambiance. Although does it get any better than sitting by the water with a refreshing cocktail, sharing some appetizers?
These days, though, outdoor dining in Boston (and anywhere else for that matter) has become somewhat of a necessity. What caught me off guard, though, was the creativity that restaurants demonstrate.
Boston Outdoor Dining in a Yurt
The Bowery Bar features dining al fresco in some of the most beautiful yurts you’ve seen. They’re heated for comfort in cold weather and accommodate up to six people.
Don’t wait until the last minute to reserve one, though. There are only three, so be sure to book early. It’s a fun and unique way to be social and safe at the same time.
Igloos in One of the Most Fun Outdoor Lounges in Boston
If a yurt isn’t your thing, how about an igloo? Yes, you read that correctly. I’m not advocating for a trip to Alaska, as the Envoy Hotel has private igloos on its rooftop in the Lookout Lounge. You can order small plates and cocktails and take in an incredible view.
Come on; you have to agree that some of the best outdoor restaurants in Boston are some of the most unusual as well.
As with the yurts at The Bowery Bar, you’ll need to make a reservation for an igloo. And I don’t get to say that just every day!
