Lake Worth Playhouse

The Lake Worth Playhouse offers both live and film programming, both in its Stonzek Theatre and on the main stage. The original structure was built in 1924 by Clarence and Lucien Oakley to screen silent movies. An organ by Wurlitzer graced the theatre, which was destroyed by a hurricane in 1928, along with its Moorish Deco front. In 1975 the Lake Worth Playhouse (incorporated 1953) purchased the South Florida theater and extensively renovated it. 

This is the oldest surviving art deco building in Palm Beach County. Pretty much anything goes at the Lake Worth Playhouse from limited-run shows to children’s theatre to Indie films and radio plays.

Amaturo Theater – Broward Center

Don’t you love it when every seat in the house is a good one? If you’ve been to the Amaturo Theater in the Broward Center, you know what we mean.

The Amaturo is a beautiful medium-sized theater with seating for nearly 600. While the biggest events are held in the Broward Center’s Au-Rene Theater, as it holds 2,000 more, it’s a refreshing change to see theater and special events in an intimate environment.

Miami Theater Center

Whether you enjoy a highly entertaining show or rent the venue for an event of your own, you’ll appreciate the uniqueness of the Miami Theater Center in Miami Shores.

The center has two event spaces. The main stage is in a renovated 1940s movie theater. It seats 330, but audience members tend to congregate in the impressive art deco lobby. There’s also a multipurpose 70-seat event space known as the Sandbox located next door.

Make note that performances are few and far between. So, visit the website and buy tickets early for this South Florida theater. You’ll love it!
