Wait! When’s the Last Time You Went to a Comedy Show in Boston?

Comedy Clubs in Boston

…and Upcoming Shows, Too!

Even though we’re sharing comedy clubs in Boston, the phrase comedy clubs is a loose one.

Yes, there are dedicated comedy venues, like Nick’s Comedy Stop and Laugh Boston. But, Prince Restaurant regularly hosts Giggles Comedy, The Comedy Studio performs at Vera’s, and Bill’s Bar and Lounge is well known for its comedy nights.

You can scroll down for plenty of comedy venues in Boston and links to upcoming performances. Our list also includes free shows courtesy of Beacon Hill Pub and King’s Dining and Entertainment.

So, whether you want to spend $75 a ticket to see a comic like Amy Schumer or prefer a more budget-friendly alternative, there’s nothing to stop you from laughing!

Nick's Comedy Stop, Nick's comedy in Boston, best comedy clubs in Boston

Nick’s Comedy Stop

This is one of the longest-running comedy clubs in Boston (35+ years!), so you know Nick’s Comedy Stop is doing something right.

Nick’s is located on Warrenton Street and is the place to go when you’re looking for a more traditional show with local and national comics taking the stage on the weekend. But, unlike many clubs, it’s an 18 and older spot with no drink minimum, and tickets are pretty darn affordable – in the $20 range.

If you’ve never been to a comedy club, buy your tickets online, grab some friends, and give it a go. You probably won’t find many of the big names at Nick’s, but you’ll be on the ground floor of the up and comers. It’s one of the best escapes from a long work week. You’ll have an hour or two escape from thinking about spreadsheets, Facebook, or your to-do list – guaranteed!

Another “Traditional” Boston Comedy Club Alternative

You’ll have a similar experience at Laugh Boston in the Westin Waterfront. It’s a 16 and over venue.

Comedy Connection Boston, Boston comedy

Comedy Connection

Rather than a Boston comedy club, Comedy Connection shows are more like comics in a theater – the Wilbur Theater, to be precise.

Depending on the event, you’ll pay double, triple, or even quadruple what Nick charges. But Comedy Connection performers are a bit more well-known. Think headliners like Chris Tucker, Maria Bamford, Tracy Morgan, Rob Schneider, Sinbad, and Amy Schumer.

It’s reserved seating at Comedy Connection shows. So, the sooner you decide on a date, the better, as The Wilbur is different from an intimate club setting, and you could end up pretty far back. You can even pay for your parking ahead of time.

The Comedy Studio Boston, The Comedy Studio Somerville, comedy in Boston

The Comedy Studio

Somerville-based The Comedy Studio was named “Best of Boston, Best Comedy Club” by Boston Magazine three times in a row. It’s plenty of laughs in a more intimate environment and one of the most affordable and fun nights out you can have in Boston, with tickets in the $10 range.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday shows feature an expansive line-up of four or more of the best local and national comics, including three in residence.

Shows are 21+ and are held at Vera’s – 70 Union Square, and you can buy tickets in advance.
