The Nutcracker – Oregon Ballet Theater
Like most other states, the amazing Nutcracker ballet also hits the theaters of Portland. It is a Christmas tradition and a must-see.
The show has begun, so there is no time to lose if you wish to get tickets for your desired date. The prices vary depending on the day, and tickets may not last much longer, so don’t hesitate to scoop them up and be mesmerized.

The Peppermint Bear Show
An event like no other; the Peppermint Bear Show is another annual Portland event. It has a story to tell that starts at the chilly North Pole. The play showcases the interactions between a dragon and Santa’s elves. The show orchestrator is Michael Snider, who came up with this comical show to brighten up your Christmas.
The play is quite enjoyable for men, women, and children alike. It is one of the best family outings you can have this Christmas in Portland. You should get there early, as the theater offers a hearty breakfast as well, thirty minutes before the start of the show.
When: Til’ December 23rd. Only on weekends, with an exception on December 23rd.

The Christmas Ships
You didn’t think that we forgot, did you? The Christmas Ships in Portland are one of the star attractions of the season.
The celebrations down by the Columbia and Willamette Rivers are already underway, as the ships have set sail to dazzle your eyes. But do not panic, for the Parade has only just begun and will continue over the Christmas holidays. There is no time to waste if you wish to witness the floating lights on the river beds.
There are two different parades split by the rivers. On a few occasions, their fleets combine to give you double the fun at a single time! Through the generic period of the Parade, check the schedule and events on the day for a particular river before setting off on your holiday adventures.
When: Til’ December 22nd.

Mount Hood Skibowl
Christmas is not only about indoor fun. Cosmic Tubing offers a different type of skiing, as you slide down on a tube instead of ski pads. For a more “Christmassy” feel, Santa and Frosty also make appearances on select days at the location.
The experience is enjoyable and safe for all the members of the family. So, get out there for an activity that not many places other than Portland can host for you.

Peacock Lane Christmas Lights
This amazing neighborhood display of Christmas spirit in Portland has been going on since 1932!
You can’t get enough of the shining lights around the Christmas holidays. And Portland does not disappoint when it comes to that department. One of its must-see dazzles is the display on Peacock Lane. The homes around the area have a unique look and feel to them, ideal for this season of celebration. It is a tradition of the olden days that gets better every passing year!
Head down to the event for a sight to behold and a hot cup of cocoa. The residents of the area entertain their visitors, and you can contribute to it with a donation. After all, the spirit of Christmas is all about sharing with the community.
When: December 15th to December 31st.

A Christmas Carol the Musical – presented by Stumptown Stages
Stumptown Stages presents a musical version of the tale of Ebeneezer Scrooge and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.
Will Scrooge see the light? You’ll have to wait until the end to see if he proclaims Happy Christmas or not.
You can get a peek of the show at cheaper rates on Thursdays, or watch the actual shows on the following days over the weekend.
When: Till December 22nd. From Thursday to Sunday every week.

ZooLights: Christmas at Oregon Zoo
It’s not just the Christmas Ships in Portland that are illuminating. The Oregon Zoo lights up every evening to make it more than a beloved animal habitat. Instead of the usual interactions with animals, this time of the year is all about the lights and the reindeer. You can roam through the place for one of the best displays Portland has to offer.
ZooLights is off only on Christmas day itself. The rest of the period is full of holiday fun, and it’s a great value that will keep the entire family entertained and full of holiday spirit.
When: Til’ January 5th, with December 25th off.
